Many Misconceptions Exist Between
the Followers of Islam and Christianity

Let’s talk! Here’s a tool to make that happen.

Questions Muslims Ask Christians is a book written for Muslims about Christian beliefs that is informed, winsome, and engaging. It tackles the most common questions that Muslims, if given the chance, would like to ask practicing Christians. It also provides Christians with a handy go-to resource for fielding them.

One of its distinctive features is that its questions are real — raised by Muslims, and not fabricated by the author. To discover them, Knight attended Friday prayers (Jumma) at four separate mosques. With their imams’ prior permission, he stood before each assembly and introduced himself. Then, distributing paper and pens, he asked this question:

“If you could sit down with a devoted Christian and ask any question about his/her beliefs or practices, what would like to ask? No question is off-limits. Just write it down. Take all the time you need. I will collect them and answer them in a book.”

Knight walked away from those four mosques with 132 questions. This book is the fruit of that project.

Their questions taught Knight three lessons. First, how deeply Muslims ponder life’s big truths. Over half probed the Christian view of God’s oneness in light of Trinity and Jesus’ deity. Next came Scripture as the basis of authority. Then questions about salvation and, finally, life practices. Second, their probing questions deserve more than Christian soundbites. Thin-soup responses would not do. Third, finding solid answers to their questions is vital, not just for Muslims but equally for Christians.

This first volume addresses the first two topics of chief importance: God and Scripture. Volume 2, God willing, will follow next year.

Specific Questions Muslims Asked

  • Do you think there is only one God?

  • Why wasn’t the Gospel of Barnabas considered part of the Bible when he was a disciple? It is consistent with the teachings of the Qur’an.

  • Why do Christians think that Jesus is the Son of God, not just a prophet?

  • How can a human be a God?

  • Why don’t Christians believe in the Qur’an when it acknowledges, affirms, and reveres Jesus, son of Mary?

  • How can anyone assume the accuracy of the Gospels?
